SoHu would be a much better choice, though ever since I moved here a few years ago my circle has just referred to it as Washington Beach.

Old North is honestly my favorite moniker, though. It feels a lot more... native? Like nobody's trying to cover up or force out Columbus history by giving it a twee little name.Ehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03879614407703515940noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7049105713193956369.post-82715775701172680042011-09-16T02:17:09.005-04:002011-09-16T02:17:09.005-04:00Google maps is now referring to the area as SoHud....Google maps is now referring to the area as SoHud. Check it.

I particularly don't like the the HUD part and its parallel to the acronym for the Department of Housing and Urban Development. Like it is in need of redevelopment or something? It really sounds kind of disparaging doesn't it. Hopefully it's usage will lose traction and a nicer less ud'ish moniker will prevail. I for one would never say that my friend Jeff lives in a place called SoHud!Billhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12459326686858035263noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7049105713193956369.post-35647616652018366702011-04-30T13:13:15.910-04:002011-04-30T13:13:15.910-04:00This has been an interesting exercise. Some people like SoHu, some people like SoHud, and some hate them both; preferring North Campus or Old North Columbus instead.

Honestly, I'd be satisfied with any of them... except for SoHud! It simply sounds awful, awful and unattractive.

It starts with so, and ends with a (th)ud.Jeff Regensburgerhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00717266252865808911noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7049105713193956369.post-15582130064855742312011-04-28T22:44:05.338-04:002011-04-28T22:44:05.338-04:00I agree - SoHu is much better than SoHud - that...I agree - SoHu is much better than SoHud - that's how we referred to the neighborhood when we lived there.Jill_Dhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15172294133466190183noreply@blogger.com
